My Co-Worker's Retiring

Hit me like a ton of bricks at work yesterday/Friday: One of my co-workers, a stalwart at the company and someone I have relied on for advice on how to work back there, announced her retirement.  She's leaving around the end of the month/year.

I haven't really had time to process it because the day was absolute hell.  A lab is closing down, so we're getting all their accounts, but the information has to be manually inputted, plus there are a lot of forms that are coming in from this lab (I went through 70 total, an all-time record).  I was in chicken-with-its-head-cut-off mode all day, so even though I heard her, I still haven't digested the news.  And this cavalcade of new forms might be coming in for the next two weeks, so by the time this lab's accounts have been fully integrated and we don't have to worry about making sure every piece of information is correct, she'll be long gone.

And I know I'll have more to say and think about this later, but right now, I am really, really sad.
