I heard while listening to Thom Hartmann that these white supremacists stormed the Capitol. But I didn't know till later that these juvenile gorillas took to breaking windows, climbing the walls of Congress, stealing shit and basically turning the entire place into fucking Animal House. What kind of a goddamn animal just decides to do this? Well, Donald Trump cultists.
And while this is not totally germane to the big picture, which is that the current occupier and thief of the presidency directed his minions to riot and stage a coup, there is one aspect to this that is, I hope, undeniable. Sure, I make this conclusion based on one photo and a video snippet I saw on Twitter, and one officer admitted they were completely overrun, and the only person who got shot was a seditionist who clearly had it coming. There also needs to be an investigation into how Capitol Police got overwhelmed so quickly. However, there is a preponderance of evidence that not only did forces sworn to protect legislators not only did not beat back these white Republican terrorists, some of them in fact invited them in. And yet, if this were a Black Lives Matter protest, there would be police in riot gear, and the tear gas, rubber bullets and batons would be fucking out in force as they outnumber peaceful protestors by at least a ten-to-one ratio. These motherfuckers had guns (and, my God, zip ties) and were willing to break windows in order to get into Congress; once the curfew began, police allowed most of the rioters to just leave. People of color march on the streets chanting, "Hands up! Don't shoot" and begging, begging for police not to kill them, and police will beat the shit out of them. Don't bullshit me: This is nothing less than racism, unfairness and hypocrisy rolled into a ball of fascism. And I hope correct-minded people understand, once and for all, that the color of the skin of these protestors or rioters (which term you use depends, again, on the color of their skin) dictates how law enforcement treats them.
One more thing, otherwise I'll just pop off for the next 60 minutes. Fuck all Republicans. Not just Donald Trump. All those Senators and Representatives who sided with Trump and planned on stirring shit by contesting state election results that have already been checked and certified wanted this invasion to happen. But don't stop there. Any Republican who had a chance to stand up to dictatorship and decided not to, either because they wanted tax breaks for themselves and their fatcat friends or because they wanted to seed our judicial system with Republicans for the next four decades, they have proven themselves yesterday to be part of the problem. They allowed this violence to happen. So in my point of view, they're no better than Trump.
Arrest them. Try them. Jail them. And if justice can't be done that way, fucking shoot them on the streets of Washington. Republican goddamn traitors. All of them.
