I'll admit I was wrong about you guys. I really thought that the WNBA Finals were over after you choked on Game 1, and I didn't believe you could pull out a win in Game 4 Sunday in Los Angeles. But you did, and somewhat comfortably, so now you have Game 5 here (well, at The Barn) tonight, winner-take-all.
When you guys had a Game 5 in 2015 at Target Center, I debated but ultimately declined (even though there were tickets available) because I thought you guys would lose it. You didn't; not even close. Pathetically, I drove downtown to see if Lynx fans would spill out onto the streets and start bending stoplights and shit.
I learned my lesson last year. You guys had a Game 5 at home, and this time I was hellbent on going. Well, that was $29.25 that I still consider the worst waste of my money ever. I walked out before you guys came back, but you lost, so I didn't care.
And I still don't care. But -- goddammit, I don't think I can quit you players! The Sparks might be so demoralized that they couldn't close it out at home that they might fall apart on the road. And you guys are still demonstrating how good you are. You guys might be hellbent on getting the job done because you failed to do so last year. And, not for nothing, the Twinks lost the AL Play-In Game last (Tuesday) night, and this populace cannot see two teams end their seasons on back-to-back nights. You wouldn't let that happen, would you?
Now, the problem is that, due to a bunch of things (the notoriety over last year, the relative paucity of tickets since this game will be at Williams Arena) prices have skyrocketed way beyond $25.25. I don't think there are Ticketmaster tickets to be sold, and I think the lowest price on scalper sites are going for north of $80. But dammit, I think you guys are going to win, even if current odds have you guys only 4 1/2-point favorites (you guys were 5 1/2-point favorites last year) so I think I'll buy a ticket tomorrow!
Then again, you guys beat L.A. last year in Game 4 only to piss down your legs in Game 5. And they're still a deeper and younger team. And I may very well be a jinx whose presence will only cause you to lose. And this is the Twin Cities; the Twinks and then the Jynx losing is the most Minnesotan thing ever. So maybe I should just save my money and not go.
Who knows what I'll do?
