I'm afraid I trust what FiveThirtyEight is aggregating, even though founder Nate Silver has become a frighteningly surreptitious libertarian/horseshoe smart guy; I stopped following him on Twitter when he went after California Gov. Gavin Newsom for a sarcastic tweet at Republicans by comparing that to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ... uh, shipping undocumented immigrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard. That man ain't right. He really wants to get pegged up the ass by Peter Thiel. Also, what the site is following are polls, and polls aren't the same thing as votes. FiveThirtyEight doesn't determine the make-up of Congress; we do. (Well, maybe not in Republican states where House districts are gerrymandered to the point they'll side with Republicans in perpetuity, but you get my point.) But polls do have a way of predicting votes, and if they're right, the country's going to be an embarrassing shitshow.
Assuming Republicans aren't colluding with Russians to brainwash stupid Americans into voting for them (I hope that if it is happening, they get caught, unlike 2016), this will be all our goddamn fault. Too many Americans voting in fear and lies. And I'm afraid that will work. Bye, bye, democracy.
